The Porto Card is the official tourist card of Porto. If you buy it, you will be entitled to free or discounted tickets in more than 150 places of interest in the city, including museums, monuments, restaurants, tours and stores. In addition, for an additional fee you can combine it with the Andante Tour Card, which allows free transportation on almost all public transport.
The card is available in 4 different denominations: 1, 2, 3 or 4 days, each presented in two variants: with or without the use of transportation. With the purchase of each of them comes also the informative guide and the official map of the city of Porto.
The Porto Card includes free entries in 6 museums, discounted entries in 14 museums and monuments, a visit to a discounted Porto wine cellar, and other discounts of various kinds: on rental vehicles, for concerts or theaters, for guided tours of the city and its surroundings, for tourist buses, and for restaurants, stores, parking and much more.
Porto Card holders who have activated the public transport option by also purchasing an Andante Tour Card, can board the city’s public transport free of charge, including all metro lines, all STCP buses including the Z lines and CP Porto urban trains to and from Valongo, Espinho and Trofa.
In addition, there are the city lines operated by the private companies Maré, Espìrito Santo, Maia Transportes, Valpi Bus, Empresa de Transportes Gondomarense (ETG), A. Nogueira da Costa, MGC Transportes, Auto Viação Pacense and Auto Viação Landim.

The Porto Card is activated after writing on it the date and time of the start of the service. It is sufficient to show it in the various places to take advantage of all the benefits. The card Andante Tour for public transport, on the other hand, must be activated for the first time at one of the special machines located at stations or inside the means of transport.
When using the Andante Tour Card, it must be swiped on the appropriate readers every time you board. Changing line or mode of transport, you have to validate the trip again.
If you want to visit the many museums and attractions in the city, you can take full advantage of the discounts and free admission with the Porto Card. Conversely, if you don’t plan to enter any indoor attractions and want to get around the city on foot, or at most by metro, you may not find the card worthwhile.
It’s important to note that children up to 4 years old don’t need a card, as most activities and museums in the city are free or discounted. From age 4 and up, children pay the full fare on public transportation, so it may be worthwhile to purchase the card for children that age and up.
The Porto Card, in its various versions, can be purchased directly online before you travel. Immediately after the purchase, a voucher is sent by email, to be exchanged for the actual card at one of the tourist offices in the city, at the airport or at the train station, during the days and hours of opening.
