Madeira Airport

Madeira Airport (IATA: FNC) is located 16 kilometers northeast of the capital Funchal, just further the touristic city of Santa Catarina.

Built on piles and perched on the high cliffs and mountains of the eastern coast of the island, the airport features only one terminal with 16 boarding gates and 40 check-in desks.

Passengers are transferred from terminals or airplanes by shuttle bus or by walk.

To and from the airport

• Car rental: car rental companies have their office at the terminal. It takes about 15 minutes drive on R101 in order to reach the center of Funchal from the airport.
• Bus: a shuttle bus service connects the airport to the capital of the island in just 25 minutes. Buses leave every hour. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Praia Formosa.
• Taxi: taxis are available outside the terminal.
