Sporting CP

Founded at the beginning of the Twenty century by a group of friends who wanted to compete for a football match during a popular celebration, Sporting CP (the full name is Sporting Clube de Portugal), today represents one of the most important football teams of Portugal, counting with thousands of supporters.

Sporting’s historical rival is Benfica; however, Sporting CP is the only Portuguese team that has ever won a UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup title. The club has numerous achievements, like being one of the top five European teams for the presence of players in the UEFA Champions League, after Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Anderlecht.

Among the several successful players who worn the white and green shirt, there are Joao Pinto, Nani, Simao, Paulo Futre and Luis Figo. Cristiano Ronaldo was also formed in the youth soccer team of Sporting Lisbon; by that time, the club paid 12000 euro for his services – a record fee for a player of his age. He later became the captain of Portugal National Football Team, celebrating Portugal’s Euro 2016 winning and becoming of the world’s most famous football players.
